ITR 7 can be used by persons including companies who are required to furnish return under section 139(4A) or section 139(4B) or section 139(4C) or section 139(4D).

Who can file ITR 7?

The following individuals or companies must file returns using Form ITR 7:

  • Section 139(4A): Every person earning income from property held for religious or charitable purpose as a trust or other legal obligation wholly for charitable or religious purposes or in part only for such purposes.
  • Section 139(4B): Political parties whose income total income without providing the effect to the provisions of the Section 139A crosses the maximum amount which is not chargeable to the income tax.
  • Section 139(4C): An institution or association under section 10(23A), an institution under section 10(23B), medical or educational institution, news agency, scientific research association.
  • Section 139(4D): Institutions, such as universities or colleges whose income returns or losses are not needed under any other provision of this section.
  • Section 139(4E): Must be filed by any investment fund referred to in section 115UB that is not required to provide a return of income or loss under any other provisions of this section
  • Section 139(4F): Investment funds as per section 115UB must file returns under this section
