Yes, you can still file your Income Tax Return even if your Aadhar-PAN are not linked yet.
In a recent tweet, Income-tax department has clarified that, a PAN that has have become inoperative due to non-linking with Aadhar, is not an inactive PAN.
One can still file the Income Tax Return (ITR), irrespective of PAN becoming inoperative.
While an inoperative PAN does not prevent taxpayers from filing their ITRs, it has following repercussions that individuals should be aware of:
(i) Pending refunds and interest on such refunds will not be issued to inoperative PANS.
(ii) TDS will be required to be deducted at a higher rate for inoperative PANs in accordance with section 206AA.
(iii) TCS will be required to be collected at a higher rate for inoperative PANs in accordance with section 206CC.
